Summary of the Proposal
RE Projects Development Limited (REPD) has submitted a planning application for a battery energy storage system (BESS) on land at Lower Penn, Wolverhampton. The application has been made to South Staffordshire Council (SSC) and can be found under application number: 24/01102/FULM.
The proposed development sits adjacent to the sewage treatment works known as Water Reclamation Works, Market Lane, Wolverhampton. The development will occupy an area of approximately 2.5 hectares, with battery units on the western parcel and a 132/33kV switchyard located on the eastern parcel. There will be landscaping and screening in place to shield the development from views. Further plans and details can be seen on the development page.
Part of the site is currently being used as a temporary construction compound for upgrades to the sewage treatment works at Lower Penn. The site was previously used for agricultural activities.
